BET’S “Boomerang”- Modern Take On A 90’s Classic

This salacious new series directed by Halle Berry and Lena Waithe on BET gives us a glimpse into the lives of black working millennials in corporate America . This new take on the old 90’s movie “Boomerang” starring Eddie Murphy, Halle Berry, Martin Lawrence, Robin Givens, Grace Jones and David Allen Grier. The movie was based on Eddie Murphy’s character named Marcus as an ad executive that was an all around ladies man, until he met his match Jacqueline played by Robin Givens. The two enter into a love affair in which Marcus gets played by Jacqueline and then eventually falls madly in love with Angela played by Halle Berry.

Fast forward to now and Angela and Marcus’s daughter 26-year-old  Simone Graham played by Tetona Jackson, is navigating the advertising industry at her father’s company. Jacqueline (Robin Givens) had a son as well named Bryson Broyer played by Tequan Richmond who struggles as he tries to impress Simone at every turn all the while trying to control his feelings for her. Simone definitely has taken on her dad’s ways by being able to manipulate and influence all of the men around her. This fresh new series is sure to keep us entertained and glued to the T.V. for at least 30 minutes every Tuesday while we try and keep up.
