61st Annual Grammy Awards Recap!
Singer Alicia Keys was this year’s Grammy host and boy did she nail it. She was fun, fierce and energetic! The award show started with Camila Cabello who sang her hit song “Havana” and brought out Ricky Martin as her guest. As the show went on, Alicia Keys was then joined by superwomen J.Lo, Jada Pinkett Smith, Michelle Obama and Lady Gaga who shared their stories on success and women empowerment.
Post Malone featured the Red Hot Chilli Peppers performing “Rockstar”. Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves and Little Big Town all participated in a medley of Dolly Parton’s iconic hits. Both H.E.R and Cardi B won the biggest awards of the night for Album Of The Year and Record Of The Year.
Alicia Keys blew everyone’s mind with her mash-up featured songs that she said and quote “I wish I had wrote” Lauyrn Hill “That Thing”, Nate King Cole’s “Unforgettable”, Ella Mai “Boo’d Up and her own “New York”.
Diana Ross celebrated her 75th birthday early with the audience with a song. Other performances included Travis Scott, a tribute to Motown done by Jennifer Lopez and Ne-Yo. Sisters, Chloe and Halle also performed. Yolanda Adams, Fantasia and Andra Day paid homage to the late Aretha Franklin singing “A Natural Woman”.
The award ceremony ended with Dua Lipa winning Best New Artist which was well deserved for the English singer and songwriter. Last night was a night for celebrating women and love. It was definitely a great show that I enjoyed.
