Kanye West To Invest $1 Million Into A Chicago Landmark
Kanye West has set his eyes on investing into an iconic Chicago Landmark the Avalon Regal Theater. Kanye visited the landmark last year along with his wife Kim Kardashian and Chance The Rapper and promised then to bring it back to life. The 91 year old theater has for the most part been vacant, it opened back in 1927 as a movie theater and then later became a live venue for music. Kanye has already given a partial amount towards his $1 million commitment to the theater and we will be able to see some behind the scenes in regards to this project on the upcoming season of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” premiering March 31st.
The new owner, a chicago native Jerald Gary, bought the theater with hopes of remodeling it and opening it back up. He has had some issues with trying to find different investors to help out. Gary has invested over $1 million himself and looks forward to re-opening the theater in the near future. Here is what Gary had to say about Kanye’s involvement so far “Kanye West has committed to investing $1 million into the Regal Theater project and has already invested enough for us to get some of the basic utilities on in the building, such as the electricity,” Gary told Perri Small of WVON 1690-AM. “We’re very excited, it’s a long time coming, and we’re happy that someone has stepped up to the plate.”
We look forward to seeing what other projects Kanye has in store for his hometown of Chicago.
