Shaquille O’neal Named As One Of Papa John’s Newest Board Members
Shaquille O’neal has just signed on as the first African American board director as well as investing in 9 Papa John’s restaurants in Atlanta. Shaq will also be the brands new ambassador going forward with the previous ambassador John Schanatter’s removal last year. Shares in Papa John’s rose this morning after Shaq’s big announcement. Shaq is known for his entrepreneurship when it comes to restaurants, he was the previous owner of 27 Five Guy Franchises, Krispy Kreme, Big Chicken and a namesake restaurant called Shaquille’s in Los Angeles just to name a few.
Shaquille signed a lucrative marketing deal with Papa John’s that spans 5,000 stores and over 1,200 employees. Shaq only invests in companies where he likes the products and believes in their core values.
“I have truly enjoyed the high-quality Papa John’s product for years and am excited to be able to help Papa John’s raise their game to new heights,” O’Neal said in a statement. “Papa John’s is building a better culture, and I want to be a part of improving the Company from the inside out.”
"We are thrilled to partner with Shaquille and welcome him to the Papa John’s Board,” said Jeff Smith, chairman of the Papa John’s board. “Shaquille has an excellent entrepreneurial background, including as a restaurant franchise owner, and is a natural creative marketer."
Shaquille has multiple companies that he is associated with whether it be the brands ambassador, ownership or buying into a well established franchise he is definitely a force to be reckoned with and we look forward to watching for what he has coming up next.
