Kanye West Discusses His Relationship With Rap Mentor Jay-Z
Kanye West revealed why he is upset with his rap best friend Jay-Z.
Last year Jay-Z released his 13th studio album, 4:44, Fans were outraged when they thought Jay was taking shots at his rap best friend Kanye, during his song “Kill Jay-Z”. After the released, he explained the meaning of his lyrics, where he added it should not to be taken literal, and it’s all about the ego.
“It’s about killing off the ego, so we can have this conversation in a place of vulnerability and honesty.”
Here we are a year later, and we finally get to hear Kanye’s side of the story. During a recent interview, conducted by the Power 105 morning show host Charlamagne Tha God.
“That concept that he gave me the money, that’s what frustrated me because, actually, the money he got from Live Nation. It was a touring deal. That made me feel like I owed more than the money itself.”
West then goes on to explain his feelings towards Jay-z and Beyonce for not attending him and Kim’s wedding back in 2014.
"I understand they was going through some things," he said, referring to the couple's marital problems at the time. "But if we're family, you're not gonna miss a wedding. I'm not using this interview to put any negative things, but I gotta state my truth."
As of today, Kanye says him and Jay have had positive communication recently through text, and will meet with each other soon. Watch the full interview below
