Tyler Perry Inks New Deal With Viacom
The connoisseur of black films/television shows, Tyler Perry just signed a deal with Viacom that includes a deal with Paramount Pictures that will allow him to produce series for BET and other Viacom owned networks such as MTV and Comedy Central, to name a few. This move seems to be easy for Perry being that he has a longtime association with Lionsgate.
According to eurweb, although Perry is still fulfilling his contract with Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network until 2019, the film deal with Viacom takes effect immediately. The contract will last for the next five years and Perry is expected to deliver 90 episodes of comedy and drama series per year.
After May of 2019, Perry will end the exclusive relationship OWN but has the option to work with the OWN network on a non-exclusive basis. OWN has a new series produced by Perry set to preview next year. Along with that he also has three more films set to release through Lionsgate. “She’s Living My Life,” set for March 30, “Family Funeral” for August 3, 2018, and “Tyler Perry’s Boo 2: A Madea Halloween” for October 20, 2018.
Tyler is NOT PLAYING! I still remember lines from his stage plays “I Can Do Bad All by Myself,” and “Meet The Browns,” now look at him?! Signing deals with major companies before he can even finish another contract! Way to go black man! I don’t know about y’all, but I’m rooting for Tyler!!
