Ed Sheeran, Kandi Burruss And Tiny: What?

Fans everywhere are a little bit confused. What do Ed Sheeran, Kandi, and Tiny have in common? Apparently, a song? “Shape of You,” one of the singles off of Sheeran’s latest album, Divide, somehow brought the three together. Tiny recently revealed that she and fellow Xscape singer/songwriter Kandi have Xscape credits on Sheeran’s hit.

Burruss recently took to Instagram to thank the English singer. Kandi posted “Congrats #EdSheeran for having the #1 album! & thank you for allowing @majorgirl & I to share in the success of #ShapeOfYou! #1 for 7 weeks!” Though we’re not 100% sure why Tiny and Kandi have received credits for the song, some speculate that it is because the song's chorus has an eerily similar sound to another song the duo has written, “No Scrubs,” for TLC. Aside from “No Scrubs,” and being members of Xscape, Tiny and Kandi had also written another hit we all know, “Bills Bills Bills,” by Destiny’s Child.

Those speculating that they received credit because of it’s similar sound to “No scrubs,” believe this was a precaution to prevent copyright infringement. Sheeran has been accused of lifting parts of two previous singles, “Thinking Out Loud,” and “Photograph” from other songs or artists. Either way, we’re glad Tiny and Kandi are getting credits for such a great song.
