Oprah To Join CBS 60 Minutes
If you know anything about Oprah’s career history then you know “O” Is real life goals. Just weeks after her infamous interview with former first lady Michelle Obama that reached over 9 million world views, The CBS network announced on Jan 31 that the first lady of TV will be joining 60 minutes as a contributor.
According to Quartz Media, in her new role Winfrey will be examining cultural dividers. “At a time when people are so divided, my intention is to bring relevant insight and perspective, to look at what separates us, and help facilitate real conversations between people from different backgrounds,” Winfrey said in a statement.
Winfrey rightfully earned the title of being the first lady of TV with her impressive 25 year run of her talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show. She interviewed just about everyone, from normal Americans to big name celebs and politicians, her show was reportedly the highest rated talk shows in the US history. I told yall she was real life goals.
After the show ended in 2011, Winfrey became the chairman and CEO to her production company Harpo Productions and a magazine called O: The Oprah Magazine. She also launched her cable TV channel, The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), became the face of the well know diet company Weight Watchers (which she owns 10% stake), and all while acting and producing many TV shows and films. “Her body of work is extraordinary, including thousands of interviews with people from all walks of life,” 60 Minutes executive producer Jeff Fager said in a statement. “I am thrilled that she will be bringing her unique and powerful voice to our broadcast.”
