Instagram or InstaChat?

In 2011, our society was introduced in what would be one of the most popular apps, Instagram. Back then, people were heavily using Twitter and Facebook in terms of social media leisure. Since then, Instagram has dominated Facebook in terms of popularity, production and novelty. Instagram has some of the same mechanics as Twitter. The app features a feed of photos that constantly updates. It wasn’t until two years ago in which Instagram allowed users to post videos and send direct messages. Now, Instagram released a new update that left people in skepticism and confusion.

The newest Instagram update is called Instagram Stories. Instagram stories replicates the app of Snapchat. Since 2014, Snapchat became one of the most prominent apps to this date. Snapchat is an app in which users can view Live Stories from other friends. What makes Snapchat unique is that the Live Feed is temporary, only available for 24 hours.

With the Instagram Stories update, Instagram users can post 24 hour live streams on their feed similar to Snapchat users. Since then, some people were contemplating deleting their Snapchat account overall since Instagram added that component to their repertoire. With Instagram constantly adding new features to their app; it is understandable that people may not want to use other social media apps. Because of Instagram’s innovate mindset; there are able to stay relevant, constantly adapt and outsmart their competitors. Who knows what will happen with their next update?
