Tyra Banks Will Teach At Stanford University Next Spring
From supermodel, to actress, and now professor, the former “America’s Next Top Model” and “The Tyra Bank’s Show” host will co-teach at the school’s business school next spring. The 42-year-old model will teach “Project You: Building and Extending Your Personal Brand” with business school lecturer Allison Kluger, who is formerly a producer for “The View”, according to Mercury News. This past May, she visited the Palo Alto campus to give a speech at the Women in Business leadership series and Kluger, who is now a teacher at Stanford, was in the audience. The two met and decided to collaborate on a class, the Mercury News says.
According to the Stanford course bulletin, the course is described as a class that will help 25 MBA students jump-start and own their personal brands through three platforms; Facebook Live, local television, and YouTube. Banks took to twitter sharing her excitement at becoming a teacher.
She told VH1 her most difficult class was about finance, while she completed a nine-week program for executives at Harvard four years ago. “For the first 30 minutes of the class, I'm raising my hand, I'm all into it, 'cause it's kind of like theory and just like, the social part of the case," she said. "The last hour it's all like Einstein and algebraic equations and craziness. And I'm just like, what the (heck) is going on? Please don't call on me because it won't be pretty”.
Now, Banks feels she is ready to give back to other students and share knowledge on building a brand and how to finance it.
