Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2017

Released Tuesday was a list of the entertainers that will be receiving a Hollywood Star. Walk of Fame Committee Chairman Vin Di Bona made the announcement right before revealing Shirley Cesar’s star. Joined by fellow gospel singers Kirk Franklin and Yolanda Adams, the gospel legend received the 2,583rd star on Tuesday. Ms. Cesar has been in the business for over 50 years, and has won 11 Grammys throughout her career. This is well deserved.

If you ever wonder why your favorite entertainer has not yet received a star, here is a bit of insight on how they are considered for a Hollywood Star. For starters, they have to have been in the business for at least five years, they select the most popular to drive in traffic to the area the star is located. Also, there’s a 30,000 charge ; in which, half of that amount basically covers everything, from the event held when given the star, a replica plaque that they get to take home, and “insurance”.  Some entertainers do get offered a star, but decline.

The Walk of Fame committee has not yet announced dates for the star ceremonies.
