Meagan Good Is The New Foxy Brown

The 1974 film classic Foxy Brown is returning, this time as a TV series on HULU. The beautiful Meagan Good will be starring as Foxy Brown, which was formerly played by Pam Grier. Foxy Brown was a beautiful, strong, black woman that black Hollywood adored. As a positive representation of a black woman, it will be great to see Meagan Good take on this new role.

Malcolm Spellman, co-executive producer of Empire, and Ben Watkins, will write the remake. The husband of Good, DeVon Franklin will produce the series along with Tony Krantz. Meagan takes on another role in the making of the new TV series by serving as a producer as well.

The original film was directed by Jack Hill, and was very successful. Foxy Brown told the story of a black woman who took the roll as a prostitute in order to get revenge on the murder of her boyfriend.  The film was highly influential in the making of other films including Austin Powers in Gold Member, Jackie Brown, Coffy and etc.

After 40-years of the debut of the original film, it is clear that its influence hasn't disappeared.

Hulu is a video on demand service similar to Netflix that is clearly competing for the #1 spot as a streaming service. The official date of when the modern depiction starring Meagan Good will be available has not been announced, but it has fans excited already! Tune into Hulu in the near future to catch Foxy Brown.
