Gina Rodriguez Hosts First Annual Young Women’s Honors Gala

Jane The Virgin star, Gina Rodriguez, got to live out one of her lifelong dream this past Saturday. Rodriguez hosted and executive produced Marie Claire’s first annual Young Women’s Honors Gala which was held to honor 10 millennial women who are said to be “breaking down barriers and stereotypes.” One of the honorees in the gala included the star of the 2016 Rio Olympics gymnastic team, Simone Biles.

There was a star-studded guest list, including Orange Is The New Black’s Laverne Cox and Jackie Cruz, Katie Holmes, Jenna Dewan Tatum and First Lady, Michelle Obama. This was a special event for Gina, stating that this is what she wanted for herself when she was younger. To see images of herself, to know she was strong, capable, possible, and mostly that she belonged. Gina has definitely made a name for herself and let everyone know who she is, with Jane The Virgin being a hit and being an inspiration to Latin American women everyone.

In regards to the honorees, Rodriguez said,  "Our honorees are everything I dreamt of having when I was a young girl," she continued to say "Now we get to do that for the next generation. We get to do that ourselves, for any generation, at any point, anything is possible. Especially now during this time we're living in...this room is so beautiful. This room is so hopeful, this room is so strong, and we are only strong together, so thank you."

We’re all about empowerment and showing ladies who work hard that they are appreciated! Congrats to all the honorees and to Gina Rodriguez for achieving a lifelong dream of hers!
