A West In The White House?

After the initial shock of the election, many are taking to throwing their support behind Kanye for the 2020 election? If you’ve forgotten, back in 2015 at the VMA’s Kanye put it in everyone’s heads that he was interested in running for president in the 2020 election. Many wrote it off as a joke, another one of West’s rants but after the very real election of Donald Trump, it seems anything is possible.

As some are still trying to wrap their heads around a Trump presidency, many others have taken to social media to express their excitement for a possible West candidacy. Back at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, West himself said "I don't know what I'm gonna lose after this... it don't matter though because it ain't about me," he said during his rambling speech. "It's about new ideas, bro. People with ideas, people who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could've guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president."

People are thinking that if a reality star with no political or military experience can become President of the United States, then why can’t a successful rapper also? Even President Obama offered some advice to Kanye, though many definitely took it as a joke. Obama told West he should prepare himself to deal with “strange characters” and to avoid “off-message” statements. His final statement to West being, “do you really think that this country is going to elect a black guy from the South Side of Chicago with a funny name to be president of the United States? That is crazy. That’s cray!” All joking aside of course, as President Obama used to live in Chicago.

Will Kanye run for president? As we’ve seen this week it’s all a very real possibility. For Now we’ll just have to wait until 2020 and see!
