Kendrick Lamar Covers GQ!
One of the most serious rappers out, Kendrick Lamar, has graced the cover of the most recent edition of GQ Magazine for its Style holiday issue this month. In an interview, Lamar opens up with the legendary rap and rock producer Rick Rubin about creating what is being called the protest anthem “Alright” and more. Kendrick expands on his To Pimp a Butterfly album, how he studied Eminem’s rhymes as a child, and the possibility of doing an album that doesn’t involve rap in the future, imagine that! We all know Kendrick has the talent to do whatever he wants but to create an album without rapping on it…seems exciting for his fans. During the Q&A the two geniuses created a bond despite it being their first time meeting.
Besides being on the cover, the full spread includes photos of Lamar in brands such as Burberry, Michael Kors and MP Massimo Piombo to name a few.
The rapper touches on his daily 30 minutes of meditation to prepare for everyday life. “I have to have at least 30 minutes to myself. If it's not on the daily, every other day, to just sit back, close my eyes, and absorb what's going on. You know, the space that I'm in. When you in music-and everybody knows this—the years are always cut in half, because you always have something to do. We in the studio for four months, that go by. Now you gotta go on the road for five months, that go by. Next thing you know, five years going by and you 29 years old. You know? So I have to find a way to understand the space that I'm in and how I'm feeling at the moment.”
According to Hypebeast.com, GQ Style will be available on newsstands in New York and LA on Tuesday, October 25, and will be available nationally on November 1.
