Have A Seat At The Table And Sip Some Lemonade!
All hail the queens, Beyoncé and Solange Knowles. We're all familiar with the talented sisters for different reasons. Beyoncé for her upbeat feminist lyrics and phenomenal performances, while looking to Solange for her distinctive style and Neo-Soul vibe. Now it's time to give a round of applause for these wonder women. After many years of praising Queen B, it's time to show Solange the same respect. Solange Knowles is finally showing that she did not come here to play but to slay. According to Billboard, Solange’s latest album, “A Seat At The Table” just went No.1 on the Billboard 200 chart. This is a first for the youngest Knowles. The news isn't just epic for Solange but for both her and big sister Beyoncé.
Beyoncé and Solange are the first sisters to both earn a No.1 album on the Billboard 200 as solo artists. There has only been two other sibling pairs to achieve this. Michael and Janet Jackson, along with Master P and his brother Silkk The Shocker. Ironically, Master P is featured on the album giving several pieces of advice on the album's interludes. The Knowles sisters also both earned No.1 albums this year. Beyoncé’s “Lemonade “ was the singer's sixth No.1 album. Once again, they aren't the first siblings to do so. Michael and Janet Jackson each topped the charts in 2001 with their albums “Invincible” and “All For You”.
The Knowles sisters are most definitely a force to be reckoned with. From their beauty, to their style and now music. They earned every bit of recognition they have been receiving lately. Both albums couldn't have come at a better time. They each have a unique title and both speak to experiences the ladies or close friends have been through while also empowering women. They also touch on issues we are now facing in America as African Americans. Tina Knowles should be beyond proud of her daughters and their remarkable achievements. I think it's safe to say that the two will be attending next year's Grammy’s and taking quite a few home with them. Get those gowns and acceptance speeches ready!
